Diamond Pet Foods has recalled certain dry pet food products due to possible contamination with Salmonella. The recalled product has been distributed to several provinces in Canada, including Ontario. A list of recalled products can be found by visiting the Public Health Agency of Canada’s website at http://www.phac-aspc.gc.ca/fs-sa/phn-asp/spf-sna-eng.php. If you have recalled pet food in your home, do not feed it to your pet. Securely tie the bag of pet food in a plastic bag and contact your supplier for disposal instructions. Always ensure to thoroughly wash your hands with soap and warm water after handling pet food. Symptoms of Salmonella infection in humans include fever, headache, stomach cramps, diarrhea and vomiting. Consult your health care provider if you believe that you may be infected with Salmonella. If you are concerned that your pet may be infected with Salmonella, contact a veterinarian.
