Everyone over six months of age can now get the H1N1 flu vaccine. Although everyone can benefit from vaccination, we continue to encourage people in the priority groups to get vaccinated – those who will benefit most from vaccination, and those who care for them:

  • People under 65 years of age with a chronic medical condition
  • Pregnant women
  • Healthy children from 6 months to 5 years
  • People living in remote and isolated settings or communities
  • Health care workers involved in pandemic response or the delivery of essential health care services
  • Household contacts and care providers of infants under 6 months of age, and household contacts and care providers of people (regardless of age) who are immunocompromised or who may not respond to vaccine

The following groups are also encouraged to get vaccinated:

  • Healthy children 5 to 13 years of age inclusive at school-based clinics
  • Second dose for children under 3 years. (Call your health care provider first to receive the vaccine. If your health care provider does not have the vaccine call the Health Unit for an appointment.)
  • Second dose for children from 3 to 9 years inclusive who have an UNDERLYING MEDICAL CONDITION. (Call your health care provider first to receive the vaccine. If your health care provider does not have the vaccine call the Health Unit for an appointment.)
  • People 65 years of age and over with an UNDERLYING HEALTH CONDITION. (Call your health care provider first to receive the vaccine. If your health care provider does not have the vaccine call the Health Unit for an appointment.)
